Tomorrow is National Cookie Day!

What are cookies, anyway? Where did they come from?

Basically, a cookie is a small, handheld cake (the word cookie comes from the Dutch “kokje,” meaning little cake) and were originally made to test oven temperatures when baking cakes.

Though baked sweets date back to 7th Century Persia, for a long time they were considered a luxury due to their high costs.
With the introduction of affordable flour, sugar and baking soda in the 19th Century, home cooking became more popular; when modern ovens started being sold with thermostats in the 1900s, cookie recipes started to appear in cookbooks, and so the American cookie obsession began.
We at Cookie Panache are no exception; we’re crazy about cookies. We took the classic chocolate chip cookie and turned it into Captain Mike’s Chocolate Chip Cookie, a great twist on the famous cookie that won’t disappoint you!

Now that you know a little bit cookie history, it’s time to celebrate! And can you think of a better way to celebrate than with Cookie Panache? I can’t.
